Following an initial rise in reported crime in Ruddington when the strictest ‘lockdown’ measures were eased on April 12th, the month of May saw a welcome drop again, according to Rushcliffe Police.
Statistics just released show there were only ten incidents recorded by officers for Ruddington during the whole of last month – none of which was serious. This is despite a spate of thefts of Ford Transits using a skeleton key in other parts of the force’s area – prompting a warning to owners to consider buying additional security to protect their vans.

No burglaries, thefts from motor vehicles or stolen bicycles were reported to them in Ruddington during last month. However, Rushcliffe Policing Inspector Craig Berry, says villagers shouldn’t become complacent:
“With the arrival of the summer there is a predictable return to certain crimes such as bike theft, shed burglary and walk-in house burglaries” he warns. “Please think carefully about how you will prevent yourself, your family and your neighbours becoming a victim. There is a lot of advice on our website and the starting point should be that we don’t make it easy for criminals.”
